Traditional Chinese New Year (CNY) decorations may be brightly coloured, but lack interactivity. Through projection mapping, decorations are no longer static, offering an innovative and delightful experience for visitors to the Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay during CNY 2017.
The mapping was displayed on a giant Chinese gate installation, depicting a group of children lighting firecrackers, which subsequently transform into red dragonflies. Running after them, a boy finds a golden egg. With a magical flourish, the egg hatches into a chick, transforming into a rooster, and eventually a golden phoenix. It then flies around and leads the children back into the Chinese painting scroll.
